Women find the resources to nurture their inner strength and renew their energy.” TFWRC participant Creating a safe and welcoming community that is responsive to the needs of women is at the heart of the Turners Falls Women’s Resource Center. The Center provides multifaceted supports and is a place for women to share their wisdom, compassion and expertise gained through life experience.
Alternative Pathways to Wellness (APW) creates a fun and accessible environment for women with low incomes to explore from a menu of ten alternative health care offerings linking professionals in the field to local residents. Women will learn about and experience a variety of options for healing and self-care such as massage, reiki, transformational kinesiology, and visual arts. Rosa Guerra, Certified Trained Hypnotherapist & Charity Day, Housing Consumer Education Center Coordinator, FCRHRA Acupressure for Self-Care (APW) with Karen Adams Monday, June 11, 10am-noon: Acupressure is as ancient as the instinctive impulse to hold your forehead or temples when you have a headache. Everyone at one time or another has used his or her hands spontaneously to hold tense or painful places on the body. The main techniques that you can use are: pressing, kneading, rubbing, pushing, scrubbing, grasping, and patting. When using self acupressure for pain relief, feedback from your own body is a good guide. Karen has “… a special interest in working with you for deep, transformational change, ... experience working with people with chronic, long-term imbalances such as multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and trauma-related issues.” For more information or to sign up for programs, contact Christine, the Programs Coordinator at TFWRC, at 413-863-2455; email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. "I have first hand experience seeing, hearing and feeling the effects of our presence in our community – and it is powerful. I have been here long enough to see, to actually see, healing take place in front of my eyes; to watch and to be part of a community of women helping women in so many ways, sharing strengths and wisdom and time. Women listen to each other, create beautiful and moving artwork together, support each other’s growth and healing. Can you imagine it? Women come during our Open Hours to sit together, share a story, draw, paint, make jewelry, share a new craft technique, read the paper, have a cup of coffee or tea, go on-line, pick out some 'new' clothes … we laugh together, we may cry together, we become a part of each other’s lives. We know that, together, we have created a very special place." — Turners Falls Women's Resource Center Program Coordinator Christine Diani TFWRC is a warm and welcoming place for all women that offers opportunities for connection and growth and for increasing confidence, skills and leadership capabilities through participation in a variety of programs.
